As local, state and federal law enforcement officials delve into every aspect of the life of Las Vegas shooter, Stephen Paddock, his longtime girlfriend has returned from the Philippines and will be questioned by the FBI.

In addition, as with every investigation, the family, friends, associates, and neighbors of the suspect will be questioned, and his neighbors are painting an increasingly troubling picture of the mass murderer.

Paddock led a secretive life in plain sight in an exclusive retirement community near Reno and neighbors are shedding what little light that can be had on the Vegas shooter – and the girlfriend who was out of the country when the massacre took place.

Paddock’s girlfriend, Marilou Danley, has said she was unaware that Paddock had an arsenal of weapons, ammunition, and even bomb-making material in the house they occupied together, but their neighbors say he had a safe the size of a refrigerator in his garage.

It seems unlikely that a woman would not at least ask what was in a safe that size.

Suzy Page, 68, lived next door to Paddock and Danley, told reporters, “It was the talk of the neighborhood – what on earth he had stashed in the safe. It was as big as a refrigerator.”

Another neighbor, who chose to remain anonymous, concurred.

“I saw the safe and it was literally the size of a refrigerator. We would all wonder what on earth he kept in there, but nobody could ever ask as he was not the kind of man who engaged with anyone.”

Paddock apparently didn’t care much for the décor of the home inside, as Page noted, “They had barely any furniture in the house and nothing in the yard, the shades were always down and it was like they were not even living there.”

Both women drew a picture of an unfriendly man who never smiled at the neighbors, but it is their revelations of when the couple vacated the home that are of most interest to authorities.

Page says Paddock, bought a “new, huge silver minivan,” at the start of August, leaving a few days later never to return.

Two weeks later, Page saw Danley packing her car with her belongings “like she was moving her entire life out of the house,” before also leaving the neighborhood.

Five days after the massacre that left 59 dead and as many as 500 more injured, more questions remain than have been answered.

Do you think Stephen Paddock's girlfriend, Marilou Danley, knows more than she is telling authorities about his actions in the months leading up to the Sunday's mass shooting in Las Vegas?
