To fully understand the unbridled hate and near-pathological obsession of President Trump, is to simply listen to San Juan's Mayor Carmen Yulín Cruz, accusing the president of somehow being responsible for the deaths of its citizens.

Her ridiculous comments, as with most cases involving progressive Democrats, ignore the fact that within two weeks the island of Puerto Rico was hit by two natural disasters, Hurricane Irma followed by Hurricane Maria a category-5 storm, the most powerful hurricane to hit the island in over one hundred years. Add to that Puerto Rico’s poorly maintained and decaying infrastructure thanks in part to years of mismanagement and corruption, and you have the perfect recipe for a catastrophic and overwhelming situation.

Which is exactly what has taken place on the island along with the mayor’s attempt to politically capitalize on the situation by criticizing the federal response and the recovery efforts.

However President Trump responded to the mayor’s criticism suggesting that it was politically motivated, and it appears the president is correct in that rumors circulating around the mayor suggest that she may run for governor.

The report was confirmed by Fox News Channel's Geraldo Rivera who has been reporting on location from the island since last week and pointed out during an interview with the president that Cruz could be a Democratic candidate for governor of Puerto Rico in 2020.

During the brief interview, President Trump acknowledged that when he first spoke with Cruz, she had been “very, very nice at the beginning.”

'She says it's incredible what happened and all of a sudden she went a little bit on the nasty side,' Trump said. 'And I guess she is running for office and it turns out I was right. Isn't that a shock?'

The president had previously termed the mayor “nasty” in a tweet over the weekend stating “The Mayor of San Juan, who was very complimentary only a few days ago, has now been told by the Democrats that you must be nasty to Trump.”

Do you believe the island can rebound fully after the devastating hurricanes along with its massive debt?
