One can almost envision Colonel William B. Travis, Jim Bowie, and David Crockett with nearly 200 patriots among the Alamo’s garrison, defiant in the face of sure defeat, and yet unbowed and with a steely resolve.

And it seems that once again that “spirit of the Alamo” still resonates within the “Lone Star” State, as Texas State Republican Executive Committee member Tanya Roberson as begun floating the idea of secession.

Roberson is trying to get it on the ballot there, but is well below the 75,000 signatures needed, however like Colonel William Travis, Roberson has drawn her own line in the sand, and is asking legislators to step up and fight.

And although this effort faces sure defeat in that the Supreme Court outlawed secession in 1861. However that didn't stop those on the morning of March 6th 1836 from facing overwhelming defeat, and eventually victory in achieving their “independence”.

Roberson has brought the issue up once before, and feels many of her constituents would support a Texas secession, stating; “There’s been a big groundswell of Texans that are getting into the Texas independence issue. I believe conservatives in Texas should have a choice to voice their opinion.”

We don't need to split the nation apart. We need elected leaders who have the best interests of their legal citizens in mind.

Texas GOP Chairman, Tom Mechler, doesn't believe that the resolution will make it on the ballot, as he doesn't believe there is enough support for Texas to declare its independence, and if Texas were to do so, it probably wouldn't happen peacefully, can someone say “Remember the Alamo!”
