Once again, perhaps a little context is in order; back in 2009 Harvard Law professor, Mary Ann Glendon declined an invitation from the University of Notre Dame to speak at their annual commencement celebration and share the stage with Commencement Speaker President Obama.

Professor Glendon’s reasoning was quite clear in that Obama was a “staunchly pro-abortion president” and a formal declaration authored by Catholic Bishops within the United Sates reasoned that Catholic institutions "should not honor those who act in defiance of our fundamental moral principles."

Obviously, the facility and student body had no reservation inviting Obama and actually stated at the time that it was “a good thing for the president and for the causes we care about.”

And apparently what Notre Dame cares about is not “rocking-the-boat” of those snowflakes who “feel unsafe” in having a true man of faith Vice President Mike Pence’s scheduled on May 21st to be the keynote speaker this year

The campaign to either disrupt or perhaps even force the university to withdraw the invitation is the brainchild of students Immane Mondane and Jourdyhn Williams who have started a campaign #NotMyCommencementSpeaker. The campaign consists of students holding white boards featuring quotes from Pence that are "racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, offensive" to members of the Notre Dame community.

Mondane was recently interviewed by the university newspaper stating; “For me personally, [Pence] represents the larger Trump administration, his administration represents something, and for many people on our campus, it makes them feel unsafe to have someone who openly is offensive but also demeaning of their humanity and of their life and of their identity.”

"I feel that is offensive to such a large population here at Notre Dame, and I also believe it goes against certain Catholic Social Teaching, which is something the University likes to broadcast that it stands behind, but it picks and chooses when it wants to stand behind them,” Williams said.

Williams argued that having the Vice President Speak goes against the school’s Catholic mission.

Ironically Notre Dame usually invites the president to give the Commencement address during his first year in office, however this year the snowflakes apparently made the facility uncomfortable in inviting President Trump…perhaps if he were more like President Obama a “staunchly pro-abortion president” or better still a proponent of ‘partial-birth-abortion” he might be invited next year.

Please SHARE this on Facebook in support of Vice President Pence and denounce these clueless and hateful students.
