Science fiction and some theories of physics suggest there are parallel universes that co-exist with our reality and President Obama, in the waning days of his term in office, is offering proof that he, at least, exists in one of them.

As he wraps up a round of final interviews and speeches, Obama is presenting his version of presidential accomplishments that not only bears little if any resemblance to what actually transpired during the past eight years, but in many cases directly contradicts the reality the country experienced.

And he would like to have a little praise for the achievements from the American people.

At his final press conference from the White House just hours before he jetted off on his final Air Force One flight to Hawaii for his last Christmas vacation at taxpayers’ expense, President Obama claimed that there had not been any terror attacks in America since 2009 when he became president.

Apparently he has forgotten the Boston Marathon. And San Bernardino. And Orlando. And Little Rock. And Chattanooga.

And, of course, if you categorize Maj. Nidal Hasan’s rampage at a gun-free zone at Ft. Hood where he stood on a table screaming, “Allahu Akbar” as he fired on unarmed soldiers, killing 13 and injuring 30 more, as mere “workplace violence,” then that’s one less act of terror that Obama claims “did not take place” on his watch.

That’s probably a huge relief to Bill Richard whose eight-year-old son, Martin, was killed by the Tsarnaev brothers at the Boston Marathon.

Of the 14 people slaughtered and 23 left injured by Mr. and Mrs. Syed Farook after they posted their allegiance to Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of ISIS, most of them had participated in a baby shower for the couple. President Obama used it as an occasion to call for more gun control.

And even though the massacre at the Pulse Nightclub in Orlando left 49 dead and more than 50 wounded when Omar Mateen launched an attack targeting the crowded gay club after swearing his allegiance to ISIL and also to Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, took place only six-months ago, Obama seems to have forgotten it completely.

Luckily, though, the president was able to point to what he terms an economy that is “doing better than ever,” as one of his stellar accomplishments.

That must obviously include a job participation rate of only 62.7 percent, 43.6 million Americans on food stamps up 36.2 percent since 2009, the lowest home ownership rate since 1967 and, of course, the doubling of the national debt to more than $19 trillion.

In the “real” America, one of five households has not one member of the family working, even though actively looking for employment.

These numbers, provided by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, seem to describe a universe that President Obama not only does not live in, but does not even acknowledge exists.

Maybe it is time he jets off to reside permanently in the parallel universe of his own imagination and leaves actual governing to a president who lives in the real world.
