The avalanche of criticism directed toward iconic film queen Meryl Streep, the day after she vilified half the nation, shouldn’t surprise those who reside in Middle America; in fact the push back should have been expected from those even in “tinseltown.”

Moreover in a world defined by pretense, posturing and faking, where success is usually measured by the number of plastic surgeries, fad diets, and psychological disorders controlled, it’s easy to become enamored with one’s own self-importance.

After all it’s Hollywood, the superficial land of perpetual sunshine, open auditions, “cattle calls” and that infamous “casting couch,” where no doubt many a legendary performer got their start.

And it’s perhaps within that context that Trump strategist Kellyanne Conway addressed Golden Globe winner Meryl Streep’s ill-timed tirade on “Fox and Friends.”

“I’m glad Meryl Streep has such a passion for the disabled because I didn’t hear her weigh in or I didn’t even hear her use her platform last night, Ainsley, to give the shout out to the mentally challenged boy who last week was tortured live on Facebook for half an hour, by four young African-American adults who were screaming racial and anti-Trump expletives and forcing him to put his head in toilet water”.

Conway continued: “So I’d like to hear from her today, if she wants to come and continue her platform on behalf of the disabled. And Donald Trump is absolutely right. He has debunked this so many times. She sounds like 2014. The election is over. She lost”.

However Conway didn’t need to dramatically draw such a distinction, to illustrate Streep’s condescending and patronizing hypocrisy, the evidence was right there, in her own words, simply listen to the disdainful verbiage used in her description of others: "Hollywood is crawling with outsiders and foreigners and if we kick them all out, you'll have nothing to watch but football and mixed martial arts, which are not the arts."

Moreover what is perhaps more surprising isn’t that fact that Streep is obviously a big Clinton supporter and a mega fundraiser for the DNC, that’s old news…the surprise is how professionally unprepared, lazy and sloppy she was in her preparation for her prime-time speech, in that the sport of “football” and in particular “mixed martial arts” has one of the largest concentration of “foreigners and outsiders”…moreover both are indeed “art-forms”
