Every “grill master, joe, chief boy-r-d, griller, daddy- o- of-the-patio”… that person in charge of grilling food on a barbecue knows “NEVER” to leave those sizzling steaks no matter what!

Even under heavy fire those “grill masters” kept those mouth-watering sizzling steaks perfect!

The video depicts soldiers at an outpost in Afghanistan under fire and mobilizing to return fire against Taliban forces. However just behind the Hesco barriers, just out of sight of the gunfight, a couple of soldiers keep manning the grill, cooking up some steaks.

This scene is reminiscent of another conflict many decades ago involving our troops in Viet Nam, then as now “barbecue grills” and M-14’s became a vital part of keeping our boys alive and a little bit of home on the battlefield.

The video was first uploaded in 2009 and describes the outpost as OP Vegas, which was a part of U.S. infrastructure in the Korengal Valley in Kunar province, Afghanistan.

That’s the sentiment that has made this video of Afghanistan popular. Donned in full battle rattle with flak and kevlar, the soldiers manning the grill seem hardly concerned with the battle raging around them. Behind them, soldiers fire mortars into the mountainside.

“The steaks, are fine, that’s all that matters,” a soldier is heard saying between bursts of gunfire…I’ll take mine medium, with a side order of potato-salad!
