It has become all too common to hear tirades from Muslim leaders spouting religious grounds to justify everything from the circumcision of young girls and imposition of harsh punishments for dress code violations, to rape, but those delusional and antediluvian rants almost always come from Muslim men.

As the dominant force in the Islamic religion and the Muslim culture, men have the upper hand – both literally and figuratively – over women who must obey or suffer punishments up to and including death without recourse to the law.

But in an unusual and disturbing video, a female professor of theology at an Egyptian university has gone on the record to “explain” why rape is an acceptable use of women.

Saud Saleh, Al-Azhar University Professor of Theology in Cairo, spoke in a 2014 to clarify under what circumstances Muslim men are allowed to rape women – and why.

Likening the crime to the selling of human organs, Saleh said that the selling of “freeborn men and women” is legitimate.

The theology professor noted that slavery was an established practice before the days of Mohammad, but that Islam “put slavery into order by limiting it to legitimate wars between Muslims and their enemies.”

In this circumstance – in times of war – prisoners are considered slaves and may be raped, “in order to humiliate them.”

“They become the property of the army commander, or of a Muslim, and he can have sex with them just like he has sex with his wives,” said the professor, who was wearing a lavender-colored burqa for the video.

Saleh went on to elaborate on the Islamic distinction between what she calls “slave girls” and wives, saying “legitimately-owned slaves come from among prisoners from a war waged against Muslims, against Allah and against Allah’s legal texts in the Quran.”

For those who are unable to comprehend why women participate in ritualistic circumcision of their young daughters, holding them down while they are mutilated without benefit of anesthetic often in unsanitary conditions, Professor Saleh’s video is highly recommended.

It would appear that male dominance of Muslim women is so complete as to have usurped any independent thought, much like victims of the “Stockholm Syndrome.”
