Last week a Washington, D.C. resident knocked out a 63-year-old man in an altercation that was caught on a security camera. Though the camera didn't capture any audio of the argument, the man in red, currently identified as a person of interest by D.C. police, seems to get mad and punches out the other man in the argument.

But that's not the end of this thug's horrible actions. After knocking down the other man so hard that he doesn't move afterwards, the aggressor walks back to the man's body and starts going through his pockets.

The video cuts away from the surveillance footage to an interview with a man on the street being shown the clip of the attack. Despite the blatant violence of the aggressor's actions in the clip, the man being interviewed responds that "there are some beautiful people out here."

While it undoubtedly is true that there are beautiful people who roam the streets of America, men who punch out 63-year-olds aren't included in that category.

It's hard to generalize any statements regarding this video because we simply don't have the facts. We don't know what the two men were arguing about or why the man in red punches out the other. But we can make judgments based on the reactions of the crowd around the altercation. No one stops to see if the man who has been hit is alright, and no one apprehends the man who did the punching.

We can do better than that, America. Let's take care of our own.
