More than anything else former President Barack Obama wants to be in the limelight and remain politically relevant with his millions of followers and sycophants.

In furtherance of that end he's been traveling abroad and sounding off in the media against President Donald Trump, acting as though Barry O is still the commander-in-chief.

But when the issue involves the near-fatal shooting of Republican Congressman Steve Scalise and five others during bi-partisan baseball practice last week, Obama had nothing to say.

Perhaps if Scalise has been a Democrat, or a person of color, the ex-POTUS would be having his mug plastered all over the front page of the Wasington Post and the New York Times.

Instead, Obama saved his precious jawboning for the erstwhile street thug and crack cocaine dealer Jay Z. Obama made a brief video to induct the hip-hop "artist" into the Songwriters Hall of Fame last week.

WATCH:

“I’m pretty sure I’m still the only president to listen to Jay Z’s music in the Oval Office,” Obama said in the brief video. “That may change at some point but I’m pretty sure that’s true now.”

We get the implication, Barky. The White House has literally gone back to being the "White" House. But we'll give you props on this point: it's doubtful anyone in the Oval Office listens to Jay Z's crap-hop.

Obama, of course, never mentions Jay Z's sordid past.

At 12, Jay Z shot his 16-year-old brother. Later he dealt crack cocaine, and stabbed a record producer in December 1999, according to CBS DC.

Jay Z is currently married to the singer Beyonce, whom Obama once described as a "role model" for his daughters.

Obama also said once that if he'd had a son he would look like Trayvon Martin, the late teenage brute whose legacy haunts George Zimmerman to this day.

Then again, Obama's son might have looked like Jay Z, another fine specimen of human being.
