The first Amendment gives ever American the right to free speech, no matter what that speech is. It does not give one the right to be listened to. Therein, if somebody doesn’t like what you have to say, they don’t have to pay attention to it.

The Kendall County Texas Sheriff’s Department is speaking their piece and counting to three. The nation’s motto, “In God We Trust” is being placed on the rear of the department’s vehicles.

Enter the Atheists among us. For so few in number they sure make a lot of noise. Needless to say, they are a bit miffed. Sheriff Al Auxier doesn’t care.

The decals are being purchased with revenue gained as a result of drug seizures, and are not the result of tax monies. “It is the motto of our country and there’s no reason why we shouldn’t proudly display that on our patrol units,” said the good Sheriff.

This not an isolated incident. More and more law enforcement agencies are returning to the nation’s motto as part and parcel of their respect agency’s mission statement.  It’s about damn time, too.

If the atheists were out there doing anything of benefit (and surely a micro-percentage are), then we could have a serious discussion regarding their “feelings.”

Until then, they need to shut up and accept the fact that they can rest easy putting their trust in the thin blue line. It just so happens the thin blue line puts its trust in a higher power.
