It's not that President Trump likes to hold important meetings on the QT. It's that he can't seem to trust the mainstream media to report news from the White House honestly, fairly, or objectively, without malice or bias.

So, it should come as no surprise that the media were purposely kept out of the loop about the president's planning meeting to honor the widow of a fallen Navy SEAL during his address to the nation on Tuesday.

When the Fourth Estate declared war against America's head of state, truth became the first casualty. Trump refuses to be a casualty and has been very busy with fumigation of the media from his social calendar.

The press was caught completely unaware of Trump's private meeting with Carry Owens, widow of Navy SEAL William "Ryan" Owens, on Tuesday prior to the president's televised address.

The purpose of the meeting was to prevent a malevolent press from transforming the honorary event into a self-serving publicity stunt by the president.

Trump delivered his address with the courage to invoke the New Testament in praising Ryan Owens for his heroic sacrifice.

“For as the Bible teaches us, there is no greater act of love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends,” Trump said. “Ryan laid down his life for his friends, for his country, and for our freedom. And we will never forget Ryan.”

With these heartfelt words Carry Owens was brought to tears as the floor of congress was brought to a standing ovation.

It's not a good thing when a president is forced to conduct national business in secrecy. Faced with a hostile media, there's not much Trump can do to keep the presidential record straight but to keep the press out.

What we are seeing is the development of a presidency divorced from mainstream media influence as an act of self-preservation. Any media misrepresentations or distortions of the president's words and deeds are then avoided or minimized.

The mainstream media can blame only themselves for the predicament they're in.

Please share this on Facebook if you think President Trump was right to keep his meeting with Carry Owens a secret.
