If anything, the Second Amendment has highlighted the divide between the parties with respect to the values we hold dear. On the right, our candidates work overtime to demonstrate that they are worthy to hold the same office that some of our Founding Fathers held.

On the left, you have candidates who go out of their way to distance themselves from our Founding Fathers and who demonstrate how they plan to try and take away our rights.

The problem with the premise of “taking away rights,” can be found in Donald Trump’s statement on the matter, with respect to the Second Amendment. Our Founders did not give us the right to keep and bear arms.

They merely recognized the existence of a person’s right to defend themselves, and went to great lengths to remind our citizens that no government can take away any of our God-given rights.

“The Second Amendment to our Constitution is clear. The right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed upon. Period.”

“It’s been said that the Second Amendment is America’s first freedom. That’s because the Right to Keep and Bear Arms protects all our other rights.”

It goes without saying that the only “right” the left hates more than the 2nd is the 1st.

With all the hoopla in the media about “gun violence”, candidate Trump is forced to explain his position on how he plans to deal with all the “gun deaths.” Trump’s plan is to enforce the laws we already have, and start locking criminals up, for starters.

It’s amazing how crime goes down when criminals go away. He finds no logic in ammunition and magazine bans. He believes we should have a national right to carry. We do—it’s called the Second Amendment and that should be the first thing, on-the-books, that is enforced.

That, and our military members should have a right to carry on military bases and military facilities.

There is no denying Trump is correct on this one. Should he end up being our candidate, then come November, you can rest easy knowing you are pulling the lever for someone who will defend your Constitutional rights rather than destroy them.
