Things are getting nasty in the Republican presidential race. Or should I say nastier. With only three candidates still in the running for the nomination, and only two of those candidates poised to have any chance of winning the nomination, [score]Ted Cruz[/score] and Donald Trump are hitting at each other with everything they have.

Everything, in this case, also includes attacking each other on personal bases, and attacking those close to each of the candidates.

Just before Tuesdays primaries and caucuses, a super PAC named Make America Awesome shared a negative ad of Trump that featured nude images of Trump's wife Melania that she had reportedly shot for a GQ photo shoot.

Trump claimed that the ad was sponsored by Ted Cruz's campaign and immediately promised that he would strike back--at Cruz's wife.

"Lyin' Ted Cruz just used a picture of Melania from a G.Q. shoot in his ad. Be careful, Lyin' Ted, or I will spill the beans on your wife!" Trump tweeted out.

Cruz and his campaign were quick to respond that the ad wasn't sponsored or promoted by his campaign, something that absolutely seems true, but Trump would not be deterred.

When a Trump supporter tweeted an unflattering pic of Cruz's wife, Heidi Cruz, alongside a touched up fashion picture of Trump's wife Melania, Trump was quick to retweet the image which has the caption "No need to spill the beans the pictures are worth a thousand words."

Cruz, however, proved that he was the bigger man and deflated the situation like a true gentleman.

"Donald, real men don't attack women. Your wife is lovely, and Heidi is the love of my life."

It's disturbing to see the way that candidates on both sides are using attack ads to personally attack this year's candidates and their families. Let's keep the personal stuff off the table and focus on the issues!
