Trump Just Made Another HUGE Move To CUT All Taxpayer Funding For Abortions
President Trump has wasted no time at all in office fighting back against abortion funding. Trump announced today that he plans to sign the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act that just passed the House today, if and when it lands on his desk.
"The Administration strongly supports H.R. 7," explained the White House in a statement that they made today. "If the President were presented with H.R. 7 in its present form, he would sign the bill."
The main effect that the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act has is making the Hyde Amendment a permanent amendment, instead of up for review each year, like it is now. The Hyde Amendment bars any federal funding from being put to abortions.
It also provides a temporary solution to the problem with people using Obamacare to fund abortions. Under the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act people on Obamacare would not be able to use it for their abortions, which fixes this issue until Congress can finish repealing and replacing the law.
"The Senate must take up this bill to ensure that government no longer spends people's hard earned money on insurance with elective abortion," explains Family Research Council President Tony Perkins. He went on to say that America "is moving toward a new era where all human beings, born and unborn, are protected under the law."
Marjorie Dannenfelser, the President of the Susan B. Anthony List, had a very similar opinion.
"House passage of this legislation is the first step towards fulfilling a promise made by President Trump to keep taxpayers out of the abortion business," said Dannenfelser. "He and his administration are working for the American people, not the abortion lobby. We urge the U.S. Senate to follow suit so that this bill can get to President Trump’s desk as soon as possible."
"This bill would continue to prohibit the Federal government from paying for affected procedures with the taxes of Americans who find abortion morally or religiously objectionable," the White House continued in their statement.
