Who knew there were that many Hollywood celebrities who did not tow the leftist line when it comes to the ongoing Israel-Palestine hostilities. Nearly 200 of them have signed a petition that effectively calls out Hamas for what it is, a terrorist organization, and each has added their name to the document as a supporter of Israel.

“While we stand firm in our commitment to peace and justice, we must also stand firm against ideologies of hatred and genocide which are reflected in Hamas’ charter, Article 7 of which reads, ‘There is a Jew hiding behind me, come on and kill him!’”

They go on to say that Hamas can’t have weapons, can’t be hiding weapons in hospitals, can’t be using schools as missile launch facilities, or their own children as human shields. Yep, that’s true. Israel has been saying that for years.

This petition is admirable, certainly. It is also long overdue from the industry that has the power to influence the political tone in this country.

Of course they go on to say how they “hope that the healing and transformative power of the arts can be used to build bridges of peace.”

Perhaps it can, but it will take a lot of work on their part. Movies that support Israel, show Hamas for what it is, and quit knocking the US as some sort villain would be nice.

These celebrities can also lend their voice and face on the public stage in this regard, because they do have a platform, like it or not.

Regardless, it is a step in the right direction, and they should be commended.
