SCOTUS Judge’s Words Cause Some to Label Them Racist
It's no secret that some of the top liberals in Washington are extremely racist in their political and social views. There have been numerous instances when race has been used as a reason for advancement or degradation and it's time for this to stop, America.
Most recently, Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor again plugged her experience as a Latina woman and used it as evidence that her opinion was worth more than the opinion of her colleagues.
"I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn’t lived that life," Sotomayor has been quoted as saying.
The case in question where Sotomayor was in the minority of the 5-3 decision, came about when a Utah man was illegally stopped on the side of the road. Police ran the man's identity and discovered that there was a warrant out for his arrest. They also discovered meth and other drug-related items on the man. He was, of course, jailed.
But that man sued, saying that he was illegally profiled. The case made it all the way to the Supreme Court before it was dismissed, but not before Sotomayor could use it as a platform for her talking points.
"It is no secret that people of color are disproportionate victims of this type of scrutiny," she wrote. "By legitimizing the conduct that produces this double consciousness, this case tells everyone, white and black, guilty and innocent, that an officer can verify your legal status at any time."
Sotomayor, who is Latina, just showed her hand with that statement.
Shouldn't it be in the power of the police, the ones upholding the law, to find people who are in our country illegally and send them home? If they see something they deem suspicious, shouldn't they be allowed to investigate?
At least 5 of Sotomayor's colleagues thought that she was completely off-base here. Thankfully there is still a little reason left in Washington.
