“Humanity has been grappling with these questions throughout human history.  And lest we get on our high horse and think this is unique to some other place, remember that during the Crusades and the Inquisition, people committed terrible deeds in the name of Christ.  In our home country, slavery and Jim Crow all too often was justified in the name of Christ.”

First, a little background for context, Mr. President, from a historian (actually hundreds of historians world wide). The Crusades began about a 1,000 years ago, and were initiated at request of a leader of the Byzantine Empire busily, bloodily, and unsuccessfully trying to fight off the Jihadi that had taken over Turkey. The Muslim control of the Levant (sound familiar) started about 400 years prior to that. These Crusades, in DEFENSE of Christianity, continued for about 300-350 years (give or take).

Take a look at the video and map and notice the red tide of blood spilled at the hands of the Jihad as they mercilessly tried to “convert” (aka KILL) all non-Muslims as part their ceaseless world-domination desires. The extent to which this pre-ISIS, ISIS/ISIL/Daesh (whatever the buzz-acronym), had expanded their bloody non-Christian reach was impressive.

Christians and Christianity in the context of the world we presently live in, and not the days of 1,000 years ago, are not the problem. The problem is you, and other hand wringing, Christian-blaming, enemy appeasing, ISIS-pacifying world leaders such as yourself. The problem is you are a world leader surrounded by a “ brilliant” team of equally ignorant people. Ignorant to the basic 7th grade world history classes that we all took and learned about these blood-sagas of the Middle Eastern radical Muslim rise to power (think Robin Hood and King Richard if you have go juvenile). These war mongers laid waste to nearly half the known world at that time. Were it not for the thousands of Christians that died driving the war mongers back into the desert, the world would be a very different place.

Lastly, a quick trip through recent US History, and your inference that the mercilessness of Christians had something to do with Jim Crow laws. Actually, it was your own Party, sir, that instituted those. Were it not for the efforts of Republicans, Sumner and Butler beginning in the 1870s, you, sir, would not be President. Christianity aside; Jim Crow was pure Democrat racism and not “religious” by any stretch of the imagination.

Next time, speak a pray of askance for mercy and grace and thankfulness, and skip the inaccurate history lesson.
