Obama Threatened to Shoot Down Any Israeli Jet That Attacked Iran
As Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu prepared to plead Israel’s case against a nuclear arms deal between the U.S. and Iran, a credible news source in the Middle East claimed President Obama threatened to shoot down Israeli jets if the tiny country took pre-emptive action against the enemy dedicated to wiping it from the face of the map.
It has long been known that Iran’s leadership is dedicated to nothing short of the complete and utter destruction of Israel. The Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei has been quoted as saying, “This barbaric wolf-like and infanticidal regime of Israel which spares no crime, has not cure but to be annihilated.”
Former president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad famously called the very existence of Israel “an insult to humanity” and a “cancerous tumor” and claimed that Jews were descendants from apes and pigs, an especial insult given the Muslim hatred of pigs.
The report that brought to light Obama's threat was originally printed by Al-Jarida, a secular Arabic-language newspaper published in Kuwait, says Obama’s threat was issued “sometime” in 2014. The newspaper is generally thought to be fair and liberal, and it’s editor, Mohammed al-Sager, recently won the International Press Freedom Award of the Committee to Protect Journalists.
According to the report, Netanyahu held strategy meetings with his military commanders for several days after learning the U.S. was preparing to sign a nuclear arms pact with Iran without Israel’s knowledge. Such an agreement would be seen by Israel as an existential threat.
The prime minister had made the decision to make a pre-emptive strike on Iran, deploying Israeli jets on test flights over Iran, when a member of the Israeli government passed the information on to Secretary Kerry.
At that point, Obama made it clear that he was willing to take drastic measures, even to the point of shooting down Israeli jets to prevent an attack on Iran’s nuclear-building facilities.
A recent, unrelated report from an Israel news source claimed that Saudi Arabia would allow Israel access to its airspace in an attack on Iran, stating, “The Saudi authorities are completely coordinated with Israel on all matters related to Iran.”
