Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich believes that the only way President Donald Trump can beat his media adversaries is to ignore them.

This means the president should "close down the White House press briefing room" and that reporters "should be banished to a nearby Starbucks," Gingrich said.

The bad news is White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer might then be out of a job.

“I am personally offended by the American news media,” noted Gingrich during a brief phone interview with Politico. “I think it is destructive and disgusting. It is a danger to the country right now.”

It's no secret that the mainstream media -- or at least 99 percent of them -- hate Donald Trump, won't treat him fairly, and publish fake news to make him look silly, incompetent, even dangerous, and generally would like to make him go away.

They're working on it with allegations of "collusion" with and passing highly classified information to the Russians. But this doesn't mean Trump has to play the role of a sitting duck president and cooperate with his detractors and haters.

“Just say to the American people, ‘you get to choose,'” Gingrich said, “that the media is a corrupt institution and (Trump) is tired of being harassed by people whose only interest is making him look bad.”

Gingrich is onto something real, although we doubt his idea will put a stop to the liberal bias and anti-Trump hysteria in the media.

They'll still go on drumming up and spreading their fake news against Trump -- even from the nearest Starbucks.

Do you think shutting down the White House press briefing room will solve the problem of spreading fake news against President Trump?
