Political satire if done without thinking and in this particular instance lacking sound political savvy can backfire big time, in that race is always the “third rail” in American politics and perhaps that’s more the issue then the actual depiction of President Obama and Michelle as characters from the “Plant of the Apes.”

In that this newspaper ran a photo of an apparently “photo-shopped” image of both the President and the First Lady, as apes, which is causing a firestorm within the Belgian mainstream media.

It's worth noting that according to reports the manipulated photo was intended as satire and not as a racial statement.

The joke was supposed to be that Vladimir Putin had sent the picture, but needless to say, not too many people are laughing.

The newspaper offered a recent apology saying, “In this case, we plead guilty of bad taste. We continue to be on the side of those that are battling any form of racism.”

Obviously there’s a major disconnect when it comes to racial issues especially in America, where everything “like it or not” is viewed through a prism of pigmentation, which ironically has been more politically pronounced within this administration, and used as a political tool to divide the population, and of course this issue simply feeds into Obama’s narrative.
