Mother Tries Mowing Grass With Newborn Baby, Officer Stops Her Dead In Her Tracks
A mother with a newborn baby was totally shocked when an officer stopped by her house in Madison County, Alabama. The mother was baffled when the officer came into her yard and remained outside. That's when she heard a loud noise and immediately starting taking pictures of what was taking place outside.
The mother, Rachael Godsey Brindley, had been attempting to mow her lawn while taking care of her newborn baby when she was interrupted by the local Sheriff.
KCTV 5 reports that Rachael's husband Ryan had been stuck at work and extremely busy with a work project.
He had not had time to mow the lawn as he normally does and it didn't seem like he was going to have any time to spare while he worked towards completing the project.
Even though the couple had just had a baby Rachael decided that she would try to help out her husband and take care of the lawn herself.
"He has been working hard on a work project and hasn’t had time to cut it," Rachael explained. "It was a nice day out and so I thought I’d help my husband out and cut it myself. I enjoy cutting the grass."
Rachael knew very well that she couldn't just leave her new baby unattended whiel she cut the grass so she did the only thing she could do. She strapped the baby on in a front-facing baby carrier and got to work.
"Y’all I thought I was about to get in trouble or something for baby wearing while mowing," Rachael's Facebook post read.
She couldn't have been more wrong. The cop actually stopped her and insisted on mowing the rest of the lawn for her.
"[T]his sweet sheriff stopped and insisted on mowing my yard for me!!" Her post continued, showing her tremendous gratitude along with a few pictures of the the kind officer taking care of the yard.
The Madison County Sheriff's Department has confirmed that the pictures posted to Facebook are indeed pictures of their officer, and they even made a Facebook post of their own that read: "MCSO Deputy helping a new Mom with a baby by mowing her lawn. Well beyond the call of duty — she was very thankful."
In a time and age when everyone is so quick to vilify our nation's police force it's good to see people like Rachael publicizing the actions that characterize the vast majority of cops. We need to show these cops the respect and recognition that they deserve for going above and the call of duty and showing how much they care about the people that they protect and serve.
