The war on law enforcement continues as two women were arrested for punching and threatening to kill a police officer after responding to a 911 call. The officer was attempting to arrest a woman he witnessed assaulting another individual, when suddenly he was overwhelmed by a mob chanting anti-police taunts including an all too familiar threat “We need to start killing these officers.”

The mayhem began when Nanyamka N. James, 20, attacked the officer in an attempt to free her mother, Latonya B. James, 40, who grabbed the police officer by the throat and punched him in the face.

The officer said that as he went to arrest the woman he was surrounded by a crowd that was voicing anti-police sentiments, including the overt threat to kill police officers.

The two women were arrested when more officers arrived.

Madison Police Department Capt. Vic Wahl said. "He demonstrated fantastic patience and restraint in dealing with these folks, he was able to literally get assaulted in the midst of a large crowd and still take these women into custody without causing any injuries to anyone."

It is no doubt commendable the this officer was indeed able to keep his cool, and remain professional, however the growing disrespect and thug like response to what should have been a routine policing incident, highlights the growing danger that these police officers face.
