Perhaps the cover story to this article should be “don’t mess with Texas” and especially with a talented Grammy Award-winning country music star and singer-songwriter, who also believes strongly in the Second Amendment.

Or to put it more simply don’t mess with Miranda Lambert, and her right to protect herself.

Country star and Longview native, Lambert has never been afraid to speak her mind, especially as it pertains to her love of guns.

All you need to do is listen to her hit “Gunpowder and Lead” and you’ll know where she stands.

In a cover issue of Self, Lambert came forward with a list of 15 things she will not apologize for, and utilizing her second amendment rights is one of them.

“I carry a weapon,” Lambert told the magazine. “I got a death threat a few years ago and was really scared. But I don’t want bodyguards. I am my own security.”

Lambert is one of country music's most popular stars, taking home the Academy of Country Music Awards in 2013.

She travels the world performing and like almost all celebrities gets her share of odd ball requests from all types of strangers and adoring fans, which of course comes with being in the public eye.

Do you support Lambert in her stance against Obama?
