Once a “meathead always a meathead” and for those not familiar with that term in comes from the
award-winning 1970’s TV series “All In The Family” starring Carroll O'Connor, Jean Stapleton, Rob Reiner and Sally Struthers.

The series which ran from 1971-79 depicts a low middle class family living in Queens, NY, and in particular a bigoted character (played by O,Conner) named Archie Bunker, and his free-loading liberal son-in-law played by Reiner, who were continually at odds with one another, and after an exasperating encounter with his son-in-law, Bunker would always exclaim “YOU MEATHEAD!”

Eventually Archie evolved becoming a foster parent to a young Hispanic girl in the follow-up TV series “Archie Bunker's Place,” however after listening to Reiner on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” this past Thursday…Reiner is apparently still a “meathead” back in the 70’s.

During that exchange, Reiner said the media has not scrutinized Trump because “the words that have flung out from his mouth are insane.”

“If he was not a celebrity, if Donald Trump was not a celebrity … the words that come out of his mouth, you’d see a guy in a park, a lunatic on a soapbox in the park, and you’d walk right by him,” he continued. “But the fact that he is a celebrity all of a sudden we are all interested.”

The irony of course is that Reiner (a celebrity), apparently doesn’t consider himself a celebrity, and when asked to explain the millions of hard-working middle-class folks who voted for Trump, Reiner said, “There are a lot of people who are racist.”

Scarborough pushed back, “Oh, my God, did you just say that? … So you think people who vote for Donald Trump are racists?”

Reiner said, “They’re not all. I said there are a lot of people who are. There’s racism in this country that’s been submerged for a long, long time and all of a sudden there’s a man…he’s unearthed a lot of it.”

Once again “once a meathead, always a meathead!”
