This story is reminiscent of the Home Alone flicks, but without the comedy. A 13-year old boy was left home to his own devises, and like the character in the film, ended up having to defend himself.

In this particular case, he was defending his life from a couple of no-good thugs. The thugs made the unfortunate mistake of assuming the home the kid lived in was vacant.

Ira Bennett and Lamar Anthwan Brown learned the hard way not to judge a book by its cover. Or, in this case, a house with an armed 13-year old boy. Upon entry, they were met with a Colt .45 wielding 13-year old who had the wherewithal to grab his mother’s stowed away gun.

Like any good American and parent, she knew that the greatest means to defend oneself in the event of a home invasion is a firearm. She obviously had educated her son in its purpose and use, because he emptied three rounds into Brown.

The thugs bolted and the kid went after them. They made it back to their getaway care and Brown was dropped off at the local ER for treatment. Brown ended up dying. Good. One less thug to feed and care for, at tax-payer expense, in prison.

Naturally, some bleeding heart lib neighbors blame the kid for shooting the robbers.  Hmm. Too bad Brown and Bennett didn’t raid their house. Maybe their stories would have changed. Or may, the 13-year old hero hearing their screams for help, because they obviously suck and are cowards at defending themselves, would have shown up to save the day.

The kids mom is proud of her boy, and rightly so. “I tell my kids that if anything ever happens to call 911, but I also tell them to protect themselves if they have too.” Clearly her son did just that.
