The new movie "Snatched" co-starring Amy Schumer and Goldie Hawn is one of those overly hyped mediocre productions deserving of a blaring "Stay Away" sign at the box office.

Snatched strives to be cheeky, cleverly hip, rebellious and raucous but in a liberated feminist sort of way. In the end the flick comes across as just stupid, totally irrelevant, and downright boring.

What was Schumer thinking as the movie's co-producer prancing around in a scant bikini and miniskirts? She's an insult to every legitimate weight plan out there, sporting an ill-placed tattoo just above her butt to boot.

The movie's plot summary foreshadows the painful drudgery to come: Emily Middleton (Schumer) is dumped by her boyfriend on the eve of her exotic vacation. Solution: invite her "ultra-cautious," overbearing mother Linda (Hawn) to travel with her to paradise in Latin America.

The title gives it all away: the mom-daughter duo are kidnapped and spend the balance of the movie bickering and testing bonds as they flee their dark-skinned captors.

The blatantly racist overtones in Snatched somehow are lost on these two blond heroines as they "wommon" their way to freedom.

Not even the seasoned acting skills of Goldie Hawn can carry Schumer's failed attempt at humor, her utter blandness and banality, not to mention her annoying monotone.

"To be fair, not every comedy requires big laughs or even small laughs," notes movie review John Noble. "I'm perfectly happy to sit in the dark in a state of mild amusement. There are no hard feelings if all the movie delivers is a big, dumb smile. And for the first 10 minutes or so, Snatched is pretty amusing. The set-up, the introduction of the three main characters, all made a very good first impression. I liked this movie.

And then I didn't.

Ever again."

Ouch.

Unfortunately, there's plenty of pain to go around with Snatched. You'd be better off removing your own tonsils.

Please share your comment if Snatched is feminist hypocrisy at its finest.
