It seems when it come to free speech and your right as an American citizen to voice your opinion, then it all depends on who’s free speech needs protecting.

If you’re Troy Maxham an Army veteran and declaring your home as a “Muslim Free Zone” you will no doubt offend the politically correct crowd, and perhaps that's why Maxham erected his sign in the first place.

Of course he wasn’t disappointed in protesting against the fundamentally violent ideology of Islam, Maxham placed a homemade sign outside of his house in early March, declaring his property to be a “Muslim Free Zone.”

It didn’t take long for his politically correct neighbors to be offended and like clockwork they came in full force, calling the police and demanding that Maxham remove his cardboard sign.

However to the dismay of his neighbors, the police reminded everyone this happens to be America, not Iran, and what Maxham is exercising “it’s considered free speech protected by the First Amendment.”

Perhaps the fundamental lesson taken from this brief encounter and which should also be a reminder to those college students, who like Maxham’s neighbors are so easily offended, that because of veteran’s like Maxham who sacrificed there lives, so that everyone has a right to their own opinion no matter how offensive.

America itself is one big and glorious “Free Speech Zone.”
