Comedian Jeff Foxworthy, who has made a career of what he calls ‘redneck’ humor with his trademark punch line: “You may be a redneck if…” that pokes good-natured fun at Southern stereotypes, has weighed in on the state of the country with his honest assessments.

Famous for politically incorrect, but clean humor, Foxworthy could set up the “joke” and spin it for an entire routine to appreciative audiences. “You may be a redneck if… your stereo speakers used to belong to the drive-in” and “You may be a redneck if… you own a homemade fur coat” were typical Foxworthy jabs that drew laughter and made him a star.

In recent postings on his Facebook page, he used the gift of comedians to point out the absurdities of the powerful and draw attention to political correctness run amok. Unafraid to “speak truth to power,” Foxworthy didn’t hesitate to call it like he sees it, using the punch lines: “You might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses, but is run by idiots.”

Some painfully real examples that ring of Foxworthy’s honesty and humor include the posts below.

If you can get arrested for hunting or fishing without a license, but not for entering and remaining in the country illegally…

If you have to get your parents’ permission to go on a field trip or to take an aspirin in school, but not to get an abortion…

If an 80-year-old woman who is confined to a wheelchair or a three-year-old girl can be strip-searched by the TSA at the airport, but a woman in a burka or a hijab is only subject to having her neck and head searched…

If being stripped of your Constitutional right to defend yourself makes you more “safe” according to the government — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

Foxworthy was employed at IBM before accepting a dare to appear on stage at an open mic night and within a short time was one of the most popular comedians of the 1990s. His comedy albums sold millions and spawned successful tours and a television show.
