Planning commission official and one time city councilman, Art Barrios, is in hot water with the Los Angeles chapter of the Council on American–Islamic Relations a.k.a CAIR. Barrios shared a post related to China's recent crackdown on the growing Islamic presence in their country, but it was his added comment that set off the firestorm. Barrios has of course came out and apologized, claiming it was a misunderstanding on his part, but naturally that won't be enough for CAIR. The group will meet with the El Monte city council on the 19th and ask that Barrios be stripped of his planning commission duties.
