Is What Obama Just Did For Bin Laden’s Former Bodyguards Treason?
Let's face it, President Obama's track record when it comes to military prisoners and releasing them isn't great. In fact, it's dismal.
Almost a year ago, Obama negotiated a terrible deal with Taliban terrorists for the return of Bowe Bergdahl, a deserter who has since undergone a military tribunal. In that deal Obama traded five notorious and dangerous terrorists for the life of one U.S. soldier.
While the argument that Obama wants to bring home all U.S. troops is a good one, it can't compensate for his latest mistakes in releasing six terrorists from the U.S. base at Guantanamo.
President Obama recently signed the release papers on Yemeni terrorists, three of whom were Osama Bin Laden's personal bodyguards. If that wasn't bad enough, an anonymous person close to the situation claimed that Obama is "fully engaged" in working out transfer deals for the prisoners and wants to clear out as many as possible before Republicans potentially take control in the next election cycle.
However, it's not as if Obama is simply releasing these prisoners to wander the streets of America and perpetrate heinous crimes. No, it's worse.
These six most recent detainees have been cleared to go to the Middle East country of Oman. Yes, you read that correctly. Obama is releasing convicted and dangerous terrorists and sending them back to the Middle East.
But what if they go back to their terrorist ways, as would seem likely for someone who has spent the last several years caged up in a high-lockdown American prison? Obama, apparently, has no plans for that outcome.
Now, it's important to draw the line when it comes to POWs. We need to respectfully and carefully deal with prisoner issues, after all, look at what the Japanese did during WWII. I don't think we want to be looked at in those same terms.
But that doesn't mean we just release terrorists willy-nilly to all sorts of Middle East countries. Obama's actions could easily be seen as treason and he needs to stop. Now.
