Trust a business executive to know how to delegate and that’s precisely what President Donald Trump – who built a real estate empire and is now chief executive of the United States – has done with the immigration issue facing the country.

“President Trump basically told us you can now do your job, you will enforce laws on your books. There’s no population of alien that’s off the table anymore and we’ve been waiting on that for a decade now,” said Thomas Homan acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in a recent interview with Fox’s Neil Cavuto.

No longer hampered by the restrictions placed on enforcement by the alien-friendly Obama administration, Homan says no one who is in the country illegal “should feel comfortable” that no one is looking for them, noting that those who are a threat to public safety remain a higher priority for deportation.

Director Homan also singled out so-called “sanctuary cities” for some tough words in the interview.

“I’ve been doing this job almost 34 years and sanctuary cities, in my opinion, are un-American.”

Places like New York, Chicago and virtually all of California have unofficial policies in place that prohibit local law enforcement from sharing information with ICE regarding detainees in local jails and cooperating with federal detainer orders.

The policies, promoted by liberal mayors like New York’s Bill deBlasio and Chicago’s Rahm Emanuel, act as a shield for illegals and force ICE officials to wait for aliens to be released before tracking them down.

It was this situation that allowed Juan Francisco Lopez Sanchez, an illegal alien with multiple convictions and deportations on his record, to be released by San Francisco authorities instead of being handed over to ICE just months before he shot and killed Kate Steinle in broad daylight in public.

Homan praised the efforts of Virginia Congressman Bob Goodlatte, chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, in introducing two bills that would crack down on sanctuary cities.

“We have to make these people cooperate with us. It’s an officer safety issue. It’s a community safety issue. Enough is enough with sanctuary cities. That’s not the America I grew up in.”
