VIDEO: How Does This Innocent Plumber’s Work Truck End Up in The Hands of ISIS?
How did Islamic Syrian militants end up using an American plumber's truck for anti-aircraft gunnery? That's the question on the minds of many, including the truck's former owners.
Mark-1 Plumbing, owned by Mark Oberholtzer, in Texas City, TX has been responding to thousands of calls, some irate and threatening, ever since an Islamic militant group posted a picture to their Twitter account of the Ford F-250 equipped with anti-aircraft weaponry, with the Mark-1 logo and phone number in plain view on the side of the door. The phone calls have been coming in at such a rate that they have had to take the business's phones off of the hook.
Mark told KHOU.com, "We have a secretary here. She's scared to death," he said. "We all have families. We don't want no problems." The Daily News has reported Texas City Emergency Managers have been working to ensure the safety of Mark-1 plumbing.
Jeff Oberholtzer, Mark's son, also spoke to KHOU.com and told them, "We have nothing to do with terror at all."
Mark Oberholtzer was shocked to see that his old truck was being used in the Syrian civil war, since he did not donate it to the cause. So, how did a truck from Texas end up in the hands of the militants if the owners didn't donate it? The exact path of the truck from Texas to Syria is unknown, but what is known is that three years ago Oberholtzer traded his F-250 truck into the AutoNation dealership in Houston, TX.
Oberholtzer was under the impression that AutoNation would remove the company's logo from the side of the truck, that obviously did not happen. AutoNation in turn sold the truck at auction. After the auction, the truck likely changed hands a few times, and some how made the journey across the ocean to Syria where it is currently being used in the hands of the Islamic militants as an anti-aircraft weapon.
While the militants use the truck to fight their civil war in Syria, Mark Oberholtzer and his employees will have to continue to fight their PR war on the homefront, until everyone learns that they do not support their former truck being used for terror.
