Hillary Clinton is starting to act desperate as Trump is gaining on her in the polls but this time she's gone way too far. Now after her latest insult to the American people she is making attempting to manage the damage with a weak and very insincere sounding apology.

Instead of attacking Trump Hillary has harshly insulted millions of Trump supporters directly. According to Hillary if you support Trump and won't vote for her you are “Racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic, you name it."

She had this to say about half of Trump supporters:

“To just be grossly generalistic, you can put half of Trump supporters into what I call the basket of deplorables,” Clinton told the crowd. “Right? Racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic, you name it. And unfortunately, there are people like that and he has lifted them up.”

Hillary wasn't going to let the other half of Trump supporters get away without a insult of their own.

“That other basket of people are people who feel that the government has let them down, the economy has let them down, nobody cares about them, nobody worries about what happens to their lives and their futures, and they’re just desperate for change,” she said.

Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway took no time to take Hillary to task:

Hillary has come under intense criticism for her comments and insults to such a massive portion of the American population.

Now Hillary is crawling on her knees saying it was all just a misunderstanding and begging forgiveness.

"Last night I was 'grossly generalistic,' and that's never a good idea. I regret saying 'half' -- that was wrong," said Clinton.

So what are voters to believe? Her apology or her initial statement? We will let readers decide that for themselves but we can guess what most people think.

Trump summed it up perfectly by denouncing Clinton's attack on millions of Americans who just don't want a lying criminal in office.

"Isn't it disgraceful that Hillary Clinton makes the worst mistake of the political season and instead of owning up to this grotesque attack on American voters, she tries to turn it around with a pathetic rehash of the words and insults used in her failing campaign?" Trump said in a statement. "For the first time in a long while, her true feelings came out, showing bigotry and hatred for millions of Americans."
