Gowdy: All Overstayed Visas Need To Be Identified To Gun Dealers
Our nation is fortunate to have South Carolina Representative, Trey Gowdy (R), serving in Congress. We need to thank the state for electing him, because in doing so they have given the nation a true Patriot who fights for us all.
He has been extraordinarily impressive with his investigations of the Benghazi terrorist attack of September 11, 2012. He has been equally ardent in his questioning of the Planned Parenthood baby body parts marketing scheme. It is clear that intimidation would not be part of his vocabulary if asked to describe himself.
In his latest go around regarding the duplicity of our government and whom they think they serve, vs. who they think serve them, Gowdy set his sights on the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration (CIS) Services and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
As all Americans have recently been made aware, the government has super-secret watch lists and no-fly lists that seem to include a shocking number of American citizens.
There are three formalized groups (lists) of people who are not allowed to purchase fire arms; those who are barred from doing so, those who have over-stayed their visas, and those who are here on current visas.
Representative Gowdy, asked Leon Rodriquez (Director, CIS) and John Bersin (Assistant Secretary, DHS) about his issue. “Are those lists made available to federally licensed firearms dealers so they can make sure they don’t sell firearms to those three categories of prohibited people?”
Mr. Bersin passed the buck and replied that he did not know the Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) handles such lists, but that his organization does not pass those lists around. It’s probably safe to say they only pass around the lists of white people, Christians, conservatives and Tea-Party people, and ex-military.
Gowdy, undeterred, pointed out that our government wants, “…additional gun control in the wake of almost every tragedy,” as its first stop. “And it just forces me to ask, well, I wonder how we’re doing with the current gun laws we have?”
The twenty some odd thousand gun laws!
"And if we're going to create a list with, by the way, no due process, called a watch list -- then at a minimum you ought to give the list of visa overstays to federally licensed firearms dealers, because that list already exists.”
That seems only obvious. He went on to add, that he
…would think it ought to be the visa overstay list [that is sent to firearms dealers] before it would be some list conjured up by—folks we’re not familiar with.”
Well said, and thank you Mr. Gowdy. If anyone can get to the bottom of this, it will be him.
