The first duty of a chief executive, whether it be a mayor, a governor or the president of the United State, is to protect its citizens, that is the one fundamental duty that is paramount and cannot be compromised, or politicized, and yet that’s exactly what has been happening on the federal level.

Therefore it is up to those local leaders to pick up the mantel and do their sacred duty and live up to their oath of office, to protect and defend, and that one uncompromising fundamental principle within a civil society.

Michigan’s governor Rick Snyder said in a statement Sunday that the state is postponing efforts to accept refugees until federal officials fully review security clearances and procedures.

He added that Michigan is “proud of our rich history of immigration” but that Michigan’s “first priority is protecting the safety of our residents.”

Several GOP presidential candidates have criticized the Obama administration’s plans to accept 10,000 Syrian refugees and urge greater scrutiny.
Donald Trump, appearing Saturday in Beaumont, Texas, said the U.S. should be more aggressive against the Islamic State and called the United States “insane” to accept any refugees from Syria in the wake of the Paris attacks.

The fact that only a hand full of governor’s are speaking out is simply unacceptable, the people need to remind these chief executives that they have sworn an oath, and if the fed’s refuse to protect the people against potential terrorist acts, then it’s up to the states to step up…in short we don’t need more gutless political hacks, we need patriots!
