On Tuesday night, the former President was taken to Houston Methodist Hospital with shortness of breath. Bush, who is now 90, has been quite active in his retirement, he has even taken to skydiving despite the fact he can no longer reliably use his legs. His staff insists the visit to the hospital was a precautionary one.

Bush's staff office has released a statement to the concerned which said: "President Bush had another terrific day and is in great spirits. He was visited by Mrs Bush as well as his son Neil and daughter-in-law Maria Bush, and has received well wishes from family, friends and fellow citizens," "He asked that his sincere wishes for a very Merry Christmas be extended to one and all."

Godspeed to your recovery sir.
