Identity politics combined with the continued undercurrent of police bashing by those holding public office has filtered into the everyday lives of police officers attempting to keep the peace, and this incident in Cleveland County, North Carolina seems to be the new normal within several parts of the country, towards police officers.

According law enforcement sources deputies taking a lunch break went into a fast food restaurant and were first taunted by the employees and then given tampered food.

The incident took place as the two deputies sat down to eat lunch, and ignored the abusive insults being thrown at them, as recounted in a post by one of the deputies wife:

"As they walked up to place their orders, the boys in the back cooking the food started yelling at them and calling them names," the wife wrote about her husband's trip to the Zaxby's restaurant in Shelby.

"Then, as they sat down to eat their food, my husband realized [they] had put the hottest sauce possible on [his] wings - to the point where his food wasn't even fit to eat," she continued.

There’s little doubt that the recent police shootings has contributed to a hostile environment for police officers, this latest incident simply illustrates that we’re experiencing a slow erosion of a civil society, today it’s a jerk in a fast food kitchen using “hot sauce” tomorrow Lord knows?

A spokesperson for Zaxby’s, a chain restaurant speaking in behalf of the privately owned franchisee in Shelby, said we: "working quickly to resolve this issue, it is our goal to always provide every guest with exceptional service,"
