After nearly 12 months of Democrats pushing for continued investigation into alleged Russian meddling in the 2016 election, you'd think they would have produced hard evidence by now to justify their witch hunt.

So far, they've come up short and soft every time, and in some instances their efforts have actually boomeranged and pointed to their own questionable conduct.

And if the evidence were "more than circumstantial," as Democrat Congressman Adam Schiff contends, you'd think Democrat head-hunters would be wanting to hear testimony from as many Trump operatives and insiders as their subpoena power can muster.

The exact opposite is happening.

Schiff is now trying to prevent testimony from Trump's informal campaign adviser Carter Page, who is scheduled to speak before the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelliegence.

What is it that Page knows that Schiff and company don't want the public to hear?

Schiff hemmed and hawed on ABC News when asked to explain the nature of the evidence of Russian interference.

“Well, I think there is evidence. I can’t go into the particulars of our closed investigation. But I also think there is also evidence of obstruction. But in both cases, I would say, whether there is some evidence doesn’t mean there is proof beyond a reasonable doubt.”

And there never will be any proof beyond a reasonable doubt. The focus now apears to be on Trump's infamous word "hope," which fired FBI head James Comey took mean a direct order to squash an investigation of Michael Flynn. Democrats are hoping to show proof through the ellusive "Comey memo" that Trump stood in the way of an investigation, which will give Democrats grounds to move forward with impeachment proceedings.

Unless Democrats can pull a smoking gun out of their keesters, it's not going to happen.

The teflon Donald Trump is more resilient than his Democrat inquisitors think, and there's more DNC skullduggery at risk of being exposed than Democrats are willing to admit.

What are your thoughts about this article? Do you think Democrats are trying to block testimony from Trump campaign staff because it might expose additional flaws in their case?
