The threat might have been far more serious if it wasn't so ridiculous.

Iran recently celebrated its missile technology in Tehran with the unveiling of a "count-down clock" to the destruction of Israel in 8,411 days.

Why 8,411 days? Who the hell knows. Maybe the Iranians like odd numbers.

Naturally, we on the American side of the Middle East conflict tend to take Iranian bluster quite seriously and get our fatigues all in a bunch every time we hear it. Many think Iran's tough talk is reason enough to start another war.

Remember what former General Wesley Clark once said in a video interview: regime change for seven countries in five years.

Things aren't going quite as planned in Syria, however.

It might also be noted that the Islamic Republic of Iran hasn't started a war in 200 years. The last one they fought was the disastrous war with Iraq that saw the use of chemical weapons that Saddam Hussein later dropped on his troublesome Kurds.

Iran has gotten in on the Syria act with pinpoint missile strikes on ISIS strongholds. Iran clearly doesn't want ISIS in Tehran and would rather fight them over there so they don't have to fight them at home. If Iran wants to carry US water and destroy ISIS, what's not to like?

Now, what are we to make of this Iranian doomsday clock?

We shouldn't lose too much sleep over it. Honestly.

Because Israel has nuclear weapons -- as many as 200 warheads in its arsenal, according to former Secretary of State Colin Powell.

“The boys in Tehran know Israel has 200 [nuclear weapons], all targeted on Tehran, and we have thousands,” Powell was quoted in a leaked email.

On March 20, 2015, The Nation ran a story with this headline: "It's Official: The Pentagon Finally Admitted That Israel Has Nuclear Weapons, Too."

And they'll use them. So Iran knows what it can do with its countdown clock, because when you're up against a nuclear power like Israel, time can stop pretty quickly.

Do you think Iran deserves more sanctions for its countdown clock? Sound off in the comment section below.
