Checking The FACTS: Are Obama And Hillary Founders Of ISIS? Most Definitely
Love him or loathe him, it is impossible to ignore Donald Trump – all the more so when he makes bold statements that even the liberal media are forced to admit are accurate.
That has been the case all week as the mainstream media hyperventilated after Trump called out its two favorites, President Obama and Democrat presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, for their gross mishandling of the Iraq withdrawal that led to the rise of the Islamic State.
Speaking before a large and wildly enthusiastic crowd in the all-important swing state of Florida, Trump summed up “the mess in the Middle East” by laying the blame squarely at the feet of the President Obama and Clinton, who served as his Secretary of State during the crucial period.
“In many respects, you know, they honor President Obama. He’s the founder of ISIS,” Trump said, adding, “I would say the co-founder would be crooked Hillary Clinton.”
The statement became an instant sound-bite, generating comment from both the left and right, but when given an opportunity to recant, the unorthodox and outspoken billionaire builder turned presidential candidate doubled-down.
“I meant, he’s the founder of ISIS. I do. He was the most valuable player. I give him the most valuable player award… her, too, by the way, Hillary Clinton.”
Of course, Trump is right as ABC News correspondent Martha Raddatz agreed.
“Trump has a point,” she said. “Hillary Clinton is vulnerable. ISIS did gain strength during her time as Secretary of State.”
As revealed in a recently uncovered U.S. Central Command intelligence report from August 2012, U.S. policy in the Middle East supported the opposition to Syrian president Bashar al-Assad, which was directed by Al Qaeda in Iraq (AQI) and the Islamic State of Iraq (ISI).
Obama’s premature and ill-planned withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq in the run-up to his re-election campaign created the perfect storm for Al-Qaeda and ISI to merge into the international terror group that Obama famously mischaracterized as the “JV team” in 2014, and which now dominates the news.
Trump is correct in his assessment – and the liberal press knows it.
