Buffalo Wild Wings Refuses To Serve Beer For Dead Soldier, Vet FLOORED By What Happens Next
A 'military woman' in Washington state planned on going to her local Buffalo Wild Wings. She went there to remember and honor her veteran brother. Her brother died in Iraq, while serving his country. The woman ordered a beer for her and a beer for her brother, but she was shocked when the bartender denied her request. What happened next was something she never could have expected.
More from Mad World News:
Waiter Brian Avey was the man who served the unidentified woman when she came into the Tacoma restaurant around lunch time last week, then ordered a Corona and a Blue Moon, reported KIRO-7. However, there was a slight issue with her order – state law prevents people from having two drinks at the same time, which Avey explained to her.
That’s when the woman spoke up, telling Avey that the beer wasn’t for her, it was for her brother, who had died while honorably serving in Iraq. After a brief conversation, Avey let the woman have the second beer, but he notified his manager of what was going on.
In a Facebook post, Avey said that the woman held true to what she had promised, and the beer just sat next to her for the entire time she ate her lunch. Then when she received the bill, she was given a rather awesome surprise – when Avey told the manager the situation, the manager told him that Buffalo Wild Wings would cover her brother’s beer, so the cost was deducted from her tab.
In response, the woman left Avey a note on the receipt, setting her brother’s beer on top of it.
“Thank you. An act of kindness goes a long way. It means a lot to me. Have a great rest of your day,” the note read, and she signed it, “A Grateful Soldier.”
Touched by her gratitude, Avey posted a picture of the note with the beer on Facebook, explaining what had happened while the woman was there, and more importantly, what the restaurant did with the beer after she left. Avey said he didn’t have the heart to dump the beer out, so he set it on top of the cooler next to an American flag in a case, then told his boss what he had done.
His boss’s response?
“That’s Fine,” he said. “Just do me a favor, put a fresh Lime in it Every Morning …”
Awesome, right? But it gets better. Not only did they keep the beer up there for the day, but they’ve decided to keep it up there permanently, continuing to honor the woman’s fallen brother, who is a real American hero.
“I just can’t throw this beer away. I said let’s keep it. Just make sure that we change out the lime every day,” said the manager, Dan, when asked about it later.
I suppose it will come as little surprise to you if I say that Avey’s post has since gone viral, garnering almost 32,000 shares and over 70,000 “likes,” which continues to grow, as it should. What may seem like an insignificant act to some, is an incredible way to honor someone who fought and died for our nation, and it shows the deep respect the people of that restaurant have for our military.
Kudos to everyone involved in this story, from the woman who initially set out to honor her brother to the employees at the restaurant who decided to continually honor him. Everyone did something awesome, and as such, they all have my deepest respect.
Please share this on Facebook and help honor the brave heroes that have given their life while serving our country.
