Iraq and the Middle East have destabilized the the point that no one, not even the U.S. Embassy there, seems to know what is going on. ISIS is rapidly gaining ground and dangers in the area are increasing for everyone involved in the terrorist conflict.

In a startling show of their ignorance concerning the situation, the U.S. Embassy in Iraq has released a statement saying that "several" Americans have gone missing in Iraq's capital Baghdad.

No more information regarding the captives was provided, however, because the embassy wanted to ensure that privacy was kept high regarding the situation.

Putting the privacy matter aside for a moment, there is still the issue of information and security in Baghdad that is a startling revelation. The United States wasn't the first party to be made aware of the missing person situation and they only found out after an Iraqi media outlet, al-Arabiya, broke the news.

According to reports, the missing persons disappeared while en route to the Baghdad airport in the last 1 - 2 days. No more information was provided by the embassy.

According to ABC News, this most recent disappearance isn't a surprise to many in the area. Hostage situations are becoming commonplace and it can be nearly impossible to determine which party captured the Americans until they come forward with a ransom message or ultimatum.

The kidnappings could be the work of ISIS, which has planned similar captures before, but it could also be the work of Shiite militants or a slew of other local gangs that see kidnapping Americans as a chance to make some easy money.

This situation is made even more deplorable by the countless American lives and resources that were used to free Iraqis from Saddam Hussein's regime and the countless resources that are being used to fight back against ISIS.

Instead of gratitude, however, all America has ever received from its efforts in the Middle East have been more killings, worldwide shaming, and now these additional kidnappings.

America needs to put its foot down once and for all.
