While Donald Trump has yet to take office as President he has already announced a ban on Muslim groups that have been allowed to stay off the terrorist group list under an Obama administration.

Legislation that was introduced in 2015 by Sen. Ted Cruz has been rebuffed by Obama but now that Trump is in office he has signaled that he would support the legislation that would label CAIR, The Muslim Brotherhood the Islamic Society of North America as terroristic.

CAIR is the same group that has had a leader infamously declare “if we are practicing Muslims, we are above the law of the land.”

A trump advisor told Egyptian television the president-elect would make prioritize getting these groups added to the terror list.

More from Conservative Tribune:

Founded in 1928 as a nationalist group, the Muslim Brotherhood was re-purposed in the 1970s as a tool to spread Islamic thought and values. Its motto is “Allah is our objective. The Prophet is our leader. The Quran is our law. Jihad is our way. Dying in the way of Allah is our highest hope. (Allah is greater!)”

The Brotherhood is banned in a number of countries, including five Arab states. Syria, Saudi Arabia and the Muslim Brotherhood’s home base of Egypt all ban the group.

While it claims not to be a terrorist organization, a document found during a 2004 FBI raid of a Brotherhood safe house reads that they believe “work in America is a kind of grand jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and ‘sabotaging’ its miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated and God’s religion is made victorious over all other religions. Without this level of understanding, we are not up to this challenge and have not prepared ourselves for jihad yet. It is a Muslim’s destiny to perform jihad and work wherever he is and wherever he lands until the final hour comes, and there is no escape from that destiny except for those who chose to slack.”

The group and American offshoot CAIR were also listed in the largest terrorism funding case ever prosecuted in the United States.

The measure will likely meet strong opposition from Democrats, especially since a possible candidate for a Democrat leadership position — Minnesota Rep. Keith Ellison — has been an enthusiastic supporter of both CAIR and ISNA.
