Border Patrol Council President SLAMS Obama, Says He May As Well ‘Abolish Our Immigration Laws Altogether’
President Obama has long let his opinion regarding the southern border of the United States be heard--he wants an open border so that immigrants legal and illegal can freely enter the country. In the past, Obama has, thankfully, been required to keep the laws that govern immigration through the country's borders. But now he's decided to flout those laws.
In a special hearing before the House Judiciary Committee, Brandon Judd, president of the National Border Patrol Council, testified that border patrol agents are simply letting immigrants go freely, without holding or detaining them.
That action comes because of Homeland Security's failure to force immigrants to appear for their mandatory immigration hearings. In the past, border agents had given immigrants notices to appear before court to have their stories heard and their credentials examined.
But, in a darkly humorous turn of events that anyone could predict, less than half of the immigrants showed up for their court dates.
Now, DHS agents aren't detaining people at the border unless they have a Notice To Appear (NTA), the document that requires them to attend a court hearing.
Judd said that NTAs are laughable, however, and that most border agents call them "notices to disappear."
What's worse, however, is that border agents are also ordered not to implement any measures to track illegal immigrants who enter the country. That means that the thousands of immigrants who are coming across the border can disappear in the U.S. with no trace.
"Immigration laws today appear to be mere suggestions," said Judd in the House hearing. "There are little or no consequences for breaking the laws and that fact is well known in other countries."
Obama's administration is, again, circumventing the laws of the United States by implementing practices and procedures that are illegal and harm the U.S. The sooner Obama is out of office, the sooner we can start to fix what that man has broken.
