As Nation Grieves Over South Carolina Church Shootings Obama Jets To Hollywood To Fundraise For Dems
With the tragic and horrific massacre as a backdrop, President Obama addressed the senseless murders of nine people in a Charleston, South Carolina church, on Thursday. And although we may have wished for a more compassionate tone, in truth this president is a pretty aloof and cool character, and so while the nation grieves, and attempts to make sense of the tragedy, President Obama jetted off to “La la land” (Los Angeles), for a pair of pricey fundraisers to benefit the Democratic National Committee and the DNC’s 2016 White House Victory Fund.
The quick getaway to LA is somewhat reminiscent of Obama’s infamous response at the beheading of U.S. journalist James Foley and his decision to go golfing only minutes after addressing the nation about the tragedy, and his bizarre response after being criticized for his thoughtless and callus behavior, stating; "It is always a challenge when you're supposed to be on vacation." And that seems to be the message “loud and clear”, in that no matter how tragic the situation, nothing will stand in the way of the presidents vacation or reaching out to donors, because the fundraising never stops.
Obama will travel to the tony Pacific Palisades home of television producer Chuck Lorre (Two and a Half Men) for a $16,700-per-person fundraiser to benefit the Victory Fund, and will be an “intimate, living room style” affair where 30 donors will get the chance to have an “open dialogue” with the president.
In the evening Obama is set to attend a fundraiser in Beverly Hills with mega “A-List” celebrities, with ticket prices starting at $2,500 to $33,400, the maximum allowable donation to a national party committee, for the chance to have dinner with Obama,
On Friday there will be several other events and of course more donations and a party hosted by big buck billionaire environmentalist Tom Steyer. And while the rest of the nation is grieving President Obama will once again do what he does best…play golf and fundraise.
