Obama Just Cut Border Safety In Half With One Fell Sweep
Why when our nation is experiencing a high influx of illegal immigration, across our southern border, would our ability to apprehend the criminals be reduced?
The folks who live along the southern border, from California to parts of Texas know all too well the dangers of their areas as a result of the unmanageable illegal border crossings.
Instead of ramping up surveillance activities, Obama is tweaking them back.
Three-thousand, eight-hundred fifty (3,850) hours are to be cut from the aerial surveillance operation.
Now, you might be thinking to yourself, big deal, that is less than one-full time person’s yearly hours. Unfortunately, we are not talking about just a person’s hours (which would be bad, obviously), it means we are taking an aircraft out of service for 160 hours per year.
Texas Governor, Greg Abbott and Representative Henry Cuellar are not happy.
“Given the recent surge of migrants from Central America and Cuba along the southern border, we believe DHS should request more surveillance and security and not fewer,” they wrote to Jeh Johnson, DHS Secretary.
“Any decrease in aerial observation is not only imprudent, but contradicts the very mission of a border security enforcement,” they went on.
This is ridiculous. This is failure, yet again, of the single task a president is assigned—the protection of the nation.
