Think of all the good the most reverend race hustler Al Sharpton could be doing for the black community if he'd only learn to keep his big mouth shut.

The odds of that happening look about as slim as Al does these days. Talking trash about alleged racism and Donald Trump is Sharpton's bread and butter -- literally.

The Rev. Al recently began flapping his gums without warning. Now he's blabbering about first-daughter Ivanka Trump's new job as the unpaid special assistant to the president. Her office is located in the West Wing of the White House.

We think Al's jealous.

“They say now she ain’t got no title," Big Al screeched. "She ain’t got no role. We ain’t payin’ her no money. But she can see everything classified. Giving an office in the West Wing of Ivanka Trump, somebody explain to me how you can give security clearance, access to classified material, and an office to somebody that don’t have a title or job?”

She got a title, Al, and she got a role and a job. But "they" are right: We ain't payin' her no money and she got no access to classified material, neither.

Al seems to forget that President Trump has the authority to appoint whomever he wants to serve in a support role in his administration.

In response to the concerns surrounding her appointment Ivanka Trump released a statement explaining her transition from an informal advisory role to special assistant to President Trump.

“I have heard the concerns some have with my advising the president in my personal capacity while voluntarily complying with all ethics rules and I will instead serve as an unpaid employee in the White House Office, subject to all of the same rules as other federal employees,” she said. “Throughout this process I have been working closely and in good faith with the White House Counsel and my personal counsel to address the unprecedented nature of my role."

The question Al Sharpton failed to ask is whether it's ever a good idea for a president to appoint close family members to serve as official advisers, as Trump also did with his son in-law and omnipresent shadow, Jared Kushner. To what extent do family members have influence over a president's key decisions -- bombing a Syrian government airfield, for example?

Al "Sharpie" Sharpton is a smooth operator and the last guy to talk about ethics considering he's got plenty of ethical baggage to lug around labeled "tax evasion" and "personal conflict of interest."

But if there's money to be made in shooting one's mouth off, you can be sure Al "The Opportunist" Sharpton will be there to cash in on the action.
