The Democratic party has, for the past months, accused Russia of being behind the leak that let the entire world see the corruptness behind the Democratic National Committee. The truth, it turns out, might be something right out of a thriller spy novel, however.

In an interview with a television network, Julian Assange, the founder and person in charge of the website WikiLeaks, said that a Democratic staffer was murdered for leaking the emails that put the DNC in the spotlight. The staffer, Seth Rich, was shot in the back several times in Washington, D.C. and Assange thinks it is because Rich was behind the leaks.

If you forgot what was revealed in the leaks, the emails that were leaked to WikiLeaks told of staffers giving away Cabinet positions and working to ensure that Bernie Sanders didn't make it as the Democratic presidential candidate.

The DNC was quick to point the finger at Russia, but that assertion is under scrutiny now that Assange has claimed that Rich was the real source of the info. It remains extremely suspect, then, that Rich was just shot in the back in Washington, D.C., an area known for its strict gun laws and control on weapons.

Was the murder a secret hit, ordered on Rich for leaking emails to WikiLeaks? Assange's words seem to indicate there's more to the story and he's even offering a reward to prove it.

In a tweet that followed his television interview, Assange put out a $20,000 reward for "information leading to conviction for the murder of DNC staffer Seth Rich." It remains to be seen whether anyone will take him up on the offer, but putting money where his mouth is shows that this isn't just some wild claim.

If there was a hit placed on Rich by the DNC or someone related to Clinton's campaign, this would be the wildest election season in the history of the United States. Let's hope Assange's money brings out the truth.
