Sometimes doing the right thing with the wrong motivation can end terribly. Such was the case this past Sunday as a bus full of volunteers heading to help with the Louisiana flooding ended up in a terrible situation.

The bus was traveling to New Orleans and was being driven by Denis Yasmir Amaya Rodriguez, a 37-year-old man who turned out to be an illegal immigrant from Honduras. On first pass that's not a huge issue until you read what happened next.

Rodriguez was driving the bus, which was full of volunteers heading to help neighborhoods deal with the massive flooding that is happening right now in Louisiana. Unfortunately Rodriguez lost control of the vehicle and crashed into two other vehicles, killing two bystanders and injuring the 24 people on the bus.

One of the persons killed was the fire district chief of the St. John the Baptist fire district, Spencer Chauvin. The other was Jermaine Starr. Chauvin had rushed to the scene to help with the initial accident, which occurred when a speeding truck slammed into a guardrail and stopped on the side of the road.

Chauvin, along with three other firefighters, was helping at the scene when the out-of-control tour bus, driven by the illegal immigrant Rodriguez, slammed into him, killing Chauvin instantly. The three other firefighters were thrown clear into water on the side of the road.

Rodriguez is, of course, under investigation by the Department of Homeland Security.

For all the people who celebrate the undercover, illegal actions of illegal immigrants in the United States, it's time to stop. If Rodriguez had been forced to take a safety course and had been legally certified to drive a large vehicle like a tour bus, it's very possible that he wouldn't have lost control.

We need to stop illegal immigrants from abusing the system. It only hurts the rest of us.
